Default Cam questions

Going to buy and install a set of cams, stage 2. My question is, are adjustable cam gears a must have? The cams are so expensive by themselves. Trying to keep costs down. Installing myself. Car has never nor ever will be to the strip. Just after that intimidating idle. Not a daily driver, but don't want to burn a grand just going for a loped/rough idle.

What about springs? I have read that some people have used their stock springs with the stage 2's. Youtube comments. But I realize you can't trust the boneheads who comment on youtube.

Could you please explain the reason why along with the answers? Im just the type of guy who has to know why on whatever answer I receive.

Thanks for any info. Greatly appreciated.

yeah, make sure you properly degree them. I used Cloyes cam gears and it wasnt too bad, but like you said very pricey but I think a must do when installing cams

I got the matched cam gears and TFS adjustable crank gears from MHS. I also got the stage 2 n/a cams which didn't require aftermarket springs. They have a decent lope at idle, make good power, and it didn't cost me an arm and a leg.
