Default do I have a used motor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was out today and always seen this on my 01 gt but just start wondering I have a 8^L written on the front of my shortblock and a number and letter on my alt pulley in that tire /block marker? is their writing like this on factory blocks???? do I have a used/refurbished motor and not even know it?? is their some way to tell if I have the factory block in my 01 gt? like a vin on it somewhere?

is it a PI 4.6?

then dont worry about it...

that's normal on the new engines. restoration guys go out of their way to replicate those marks.

Paint marks and letters are normal from the factory. Letters and # usually are used for a quick ref on what something is in the plant and paint dots or X's mean that and one time someone forgot to either Torque a bolt or forgot something all together and the paint marks mean a 2nd person has verified the spec to be correct

Of course it is a used motor, you have used car--however it is likely the engine that came in the car from the factory, as they have those sorts of marks on them.

They are temporary production codes, worker markings indicating manufacturing status, etc., as BraMas said. Restorers duplicate them to make the restored car look like it just came from the factory...
