Default 3.73 Gears

Ok I have stock gears currently. I would like to upgrade them to 3.73s. How much will it affect my gas mileage. I am going to be driving 40 miles round trip to school daily on the high way so I need decent gas mileage.

do you have an auto or 5sp? after I installed my 3.73 my 70mph cruizing rpm went from 2000rpm up to 2400-2500rpm lost only maybe 1+ mpg on the highway still able to get about 345miles before the gas light comes on on the highway and you know there is like 2 gallons left when the light comes on so thats around 25mpg highway. The city mpg went up about 1+mpg when im not playing the whole simple science behind what gears do is why the city mpg increased. Takes less effort to get up to speed and into the powerband. hopefully that helped but there are Alot of threads on gears.

Oh man...I thought I was the only one seeing that. That makes me feel a little better.

I too plan on going to 3.73s once I finish my T5 swap.

some ppl claim that and others say they lost quite a bit when going with 4.10s I guess it may be a bit different if you have a 5sp or smthng

i almost guarantee when people are sharing their thoughts after putting gears in their car, that they dont let their right foot cool off before actually calculating their mpg. of course if your foot is in it, you're gonna lose mpg. but a little higher rpm isnt going to hurt any car's fuel mileage.
