Default how to adjust aftermarket firewall adjuster

I got the following parts installed 2000 miles ago
ford racing throwout bearing,ford clutch
ram hdx flywheel,
ford clutch fork and pivot stud
MM quadrant and firewall adjuster

It has been smooth as butter, the guy who installed it made it to where to clutch would grab right off the floor and I liked it that way. over the course of the last 2000 miles it has gotten to where it grabs almost at the middle of the pedal travel. I have been getting a vibration sound from my aluminum quadrant when cruising and I can hear my throwout bearing makeing a little noise when im in a garage or someting enclosed.

Which way do I need to adjust my fire wall adjust to make the clutch grab closer to the floor like it did when it was first installed.

You need to spin the adjust OUT, taking away some excess slack of the cable, is it the stock cable you using because if its an aftermarket and it already stretched that much its gonna be snapping soon.

^+1, I would be concerned if the cable has stretched that much in 2k miles.

Properly adjusted there should be 1" to 1-3/8" free play in the pedal.

Cliffy, I have a question about the recommended clutch adjustment. When you say 1” to 1-3/8” of free play in the pedal, does this mean 1” to 1-3/8” of movement with almost no force on the pedal? In this situation, the TOB would not touch the pressure plate fingers until the pedal is moved that 1” to 1-3/8”. Do I understand that correctly, and if so, how do you get the clutch fork & TOB to pull away from the pressure plate fingers? Do I have to install my own return spring (such as the one from Lethal Performance, link below)? Much appreciated.

Yes, 1" to 1-38" pushing on the pedal until you feel the TOB start to push in the spring fingers.

I have never found a need for a return spring (however I have only installed quadrant/adjusters on maybe 1/2 dozen cars, most with the stock clutch), as the release lever generally wants to move toward the rear by itself.

On my '03 (w/a RAM HDX clutch) I set the cable to provide 1-1/4" free play and have never heard a peep from the TOB, quadrant or anything clutch control related.

its a brand new ford cable from Maximum Motorsport

(•Made in America for MM by the original Ford OEM vendor.)

the fire wall adjuster was screwed in within a 1/2in or so from being all the way in. so it needs to go forward right?

If you have too much free play you extend the adjuster (away from the firewall, turn it anti-clockwise), if there is too little free play retract it (toward the firewall, turn it clockwise).
