Default '98 Cobra blower build.

Okay, so...this is mostly going to be me asking tons and tons of questions.

I'm going to be attempting to complete this build with the LEAST dollar amount possible and still buying mostly new parts.

So, here's what I'll be purchasing;

power pipe. ( brand unknown )
Blower bracket
Used head unit ( novi 1000 )
Intercooler
All piping
Injectors
Fuel pump
Possibly a coil pack relocation? Looks to me like the blower will sit where the pass coil pack sits.
New maf?

Just a list off the top of my head.

I just bought the headunit for $400. It's in perfect shape. No shaft play. Smooth operation spinning internals. No weird noises. My next purchase will be a fuel pump. Going to be looking for 310 (aviator?) or an aftermarket 340lph pump. Roughly $300 or so?

As far as injectors...I'm not too sure whether or not I should be going 42 or 60. I want to be making slightly over 400 RW. I don't know how much boost that equates to.

I'll probably be buying an intercooler off of eBay. Will be trying to find one with the inlet/outlet on the same side so the amount of induction piping is minimal.

I've been looking at the Anderson power pipe...thoughts? Suggestions? I will probably be hand fabbing up as much piping as possible.

Remember, I have zero experience with forced induction. So any criticism and help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

DIIIIIIIIIIIKHEAAAAAAAAAAAD, anyway. 42# injectors will be plenty for ya, I'm making 420rwhp on 42s and 8psi with long tubes and I still have some more room. I didn't need to relocated the coilpack bracket just needed to trim mine with the procharger probably gonna be the same for yours. You will need a new MAF programmed for your new injector size. You can run stock plugs gapped at about .32. As far as the fuel pump goes you have the returnless system compared to my return which is fine with the classic 255 walbro, you should be fine running a svt focus pump.

I had a 90mm lightning maf in mind. I've heard it's one of the best.

Also, how big of a pulley do I need to run to make my power level goals?

And how would said pulley effect overall rpm of the blower in relation to engine speed?

Without longtubes ull need 10psi to break over 400. Also delete your IMRCs before u run into a nightmare

I've been planning on the MMR deletes.

Also, I'll be needing a new clutch. I'll be doing headers when I do the clutch.

Why don't you just do a COP swap.... much cooler than a coil pack relocating bracket.

If I don't absolutely have to...I'm not going to. Remember...budget build.

I'm pretty sure the 98's are still a return style fuel system with a 99+ style tank and hat setup. My 98 was like this. So before you put a returnless pump in and burn it up check your fuel rails to see if there is a return line coming off of them. I "think" what makes it difficult for the 98 setup is that the pump diameter is different, like the returnless pumps, so even though the 86-97 255walbro pumps will work they don't fit the 98 hat. When I ordered my fore dual pump hat I'm pretty sure they had two options. One for the walbro style return pumps and one for the returnless pumps.
I also ran a 90mm Lmaf in a blow through setup with 42lb injectors with no issues at around 400hp with the procharged setup. Although if you plan on upping it in the future might as well buy an 05 style slot maf and 60's from the get go.

Thanks for the tip. I'll be looking into that.

I'll be sticking with 400 RW for some time...
