New clutch Knocking Help me out plz.
Hello,
First off new to the threads so if this type of issue has been posted before sorry. This is the biggest project I have ever done myself not as much income as I used to have so learning to fix things myself.
Ok so I have a 1999 Mustang GT with the T45 tranny. I just put a new clutch in it over the weekend. Used a King cobra clutch and Billet flywheel. Used the ToB and retaining bearing that came in the kit.
I am getting a Knocking / rattle noise now from what sounds like in the bell housing area. Its not as bad when the clutch is depressed but still there. Its louder with a load on it. Seems to shift into gear good and no slipping all gears felt good on pedal just the noise. Have not drove it other then the one test drive because of the noise.
Thank you for any idea's

How coincidental... I did the exact same thing with the same parts and have the same problem. If I litely push on the clutch pedal the noise goes away. I installed a firewall adjuster for the clutch cable to eliminate the stock crap. That helped a lot because I was able to take some play out of the cable but not enough to cause a problem. What I find amazing is my initial noise was the throwout bearing making a little noise so while replacing it I replaced everything (except the clutch cable). Then came the noise. Can you feel a slight rattle in the clutch pedal with your foot lightly on it?

Ok well I have been driving it and the noise has been better. I dont have a vibration in my pedal it feels nice and firm. After talking to a few buddy's with mustangs as well they told me I should have used a OeM ToB instead of the one that came with the kit.
They say kit ToB dont have the same wieght to them and tend to be junk they wont even use a centerfoce ToB they said. I dont know how true that is but its what they said. I have finished my 500 mile break in tho and all is well.
Just a little rattle now and then but over all running good. Even turned a 11.2 QM at the local track not a very experienced driver tho my buddy can hit in the 10's with it.
