Default What Ford Engine for 1000+hp in stock?

Hi guys, I am from Russia.

I've got some issue with choosing an engine for corvette. My requirements for an engine:
V8, 4.5+L,cast iron block, low compression ratio, DOHC, 4-valves.

stock corvette engine is not suitable, because it has aluminum block, big compression ratio, single camshaft. I am going to install 2 turbochargers and spool it up to 1.5-2 bars.

I searched inet, and found some interesting engines that were installed in Ford's cars, only 2 of them has cast iron block, they are:

1. V8 4.6L DOHC(4 camshafts) 32-valves, cast iron block, 9.6 -compression ration +supercharger
this engine was installed only in:
2003–2004 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra

2. V8 5.4L DOHC(4 camshafts) 32-valves, cast iron block, 9.6 -compression ration +supercharger
this engine was installed only in:
2007-2010 Ford Shelby GT500

So I am going to replace supercharger with aluminum intake manifold and mount/install 2 turbochargers ~ garrett gt30r.

My questions:

1. what is the difference between this 2 engines except displacement? and which one is better for forcing up to 1000+hp?
2. are there other engines with my requirements installed in ford cars?
3. How much power stock pistons, rods, crankshaft handle on that engines?
4. are there aftermarket companies that produce tuning parts for that engines(pistons, rods, crankshaft, camshafts, valves,r etainers, springs)?
5. do you have experience with installing turbochargers on that engines, if so, please share that(links, pics)

your feedback is much appreciated!

The 5.4 gt500 motor will be your best bet it comes factory with a better set of heads and more displacement. Both motors in factory form are good for about 800 rwhp. Both motors have a big aftermarket available for them. As for installing turbo charges you would be better off asking over on svtperformance. com there is a specific turbo section and a lot of guys that know these motors and what works best on them over there.

93-98 Teksid block, pretty much indestructable

the 5.4 out of the Shelby will destroy the stock rods, the termi shortblock is pretty stout

not trying to steeryu away, but the LSx engines are a lot better and will drop right in, im sure a mod motor in a 'vette = SERIOUS fabrication...

id just do an LS2 block, trickflow heads and a FAST 102/102 intake with twins on like 13-15 lbs and be done with it, thatd be an 800-900rwhp car, the stock alum blocks are plenty strong and if you really want iron, grab one out of a truck...

just my .02

I was wondering the same thing at first..Why not a LSX motor.
But I think his specs listed where for a DOHC motor and the LSX is a push rod motor.

But he could run a ZR1 32 DOHC Motor from a C4 if that was a Iron block
But I believe its aluminum

Chevy really never made a DOHC motor, They love that push rod s*** still to this day, C7 is rumored to have a DOHC revving beast but who knows with them lately, could be FWD the way their rep has been as of late

@ OP GL find that motor, your on the right path looking for a Ford 4.6 LTR

The problem with the LT5 ZR1 engine was and remains today...its so expensive to do heads, cams, timing work, etc...and the intake is very elaborate...its just spendy....but bulletproof. There are some Stroked 415ci LT5's around...scary.

Why not a LSX motor.
1. it is aluminum block
2. single camshaft
3. 2-valves
4. big compression ratio 12:1 - is not suitable for turbocharger boost
5. it is bigger = less place for installing turbchargers
6. terrible sound like a tractor, looks like because of single camshaft
