Clutch should feel soft and easy to push in. If you have to give quit bit of forsce and muscle from your calf the clutch is going out. Yes its hard to tell cause the car still goes as normal cause my clutch still moved the car like the semi I drive. So since getting a new clutch the vehicle will engage mutch faster a top of pedal release. You'll know when its worn out by the time mine was replaced it was an inch off the flore when engaged. Just to get the clutch into gear I had to remove the floor mat a smash the clutch into the ground to shift it from gear to gear. When I had the mechanic at precision tunes replaced the clutch he showed it to me it was a goner.

it also depends on what clutch you have. i have seen some aftermarket clutches be stiff and they are brand new. IT depends on the maker. Now if the clutch is stock it could be going on.

Not all clutches are soft and easy to push in, alot of the larger starge clutches are gonna be hard to push in their entire life, as far as the pedal engagment goes like I previous state it could just need adjustment or it also could be a failing cable, as strands seperate on the clutch cable it will stretch further and further and without adjustment eventually youll run out of pedal. ALSO if the cable is getting hung up on the quadrant or firewall this will also give the sensation of the clutch feeling hard to push in. Just because a clutch is hard to push in all of asudden doesnt automatically means the clutch is bad.
