CEL - Cat convertor clogging on one of the banks???
Well my CEL came on...says there build up or something in one of the banks..i think 2 but not positive. So what are my options to fix it the cheapest? I had the code pulled at a local advancd and he said that the cats were one piece and the cost for the whle deal was like $546...just for the part. Can anyone give me some advice? Im short on cash and wanna get this fixed. I have noticed a significant hesitation when i try to get it going..it bogs down during a hard acceleration. Thanks guys!

I dunno what the emissions laws are in AL, but the cheapest way I can think of is to cut the Cats out and put in a straight pipe, then by some CEL Eliminators to hook into the O2 sensors, that should get rid of the code from missing cats. Unfortunately. You could also cut them out and fit universal cats in place but that might not fit right. The best way would be to buy a catted X or H pipe from say Aerican Muscle or someplace, but that will put you back at the above stated price point you were given....but those have high flow cats....good prep for a cat back exhaust!!

Ok the code is P0430. Catalyst eff bank 2. I see it is most usually a bad cat, exhaust leak, or an o2 sensor. Am i right? I am having new cats put on today..they are high flow so i know it will prolly still give code due to sensors misread. How do you check for an exhaust leak? I can smell a fuel smell when I come to a stop. Not inside the cab. Thanks guys
