I recently developed a knocking type sound from my car while it is at idle. if the car is in park idling you can hear it at a steady pace, if you rev the engine up it stays at the same sound level but increases in succesion. if you put your ear down around the wheel well you can hear it very clearly, from on top of the engine it sounds like its coming from the center bottom of the engine somewhere. i currently have a 102,000 miles on my engine. from inside the car with the windows closed you cant really hear the noise, the car seems to be running fine, any ideas what it might be?

Possibly a spun rod bearing. Drain your oil and see if you havea lot metal flakesin the oil.

well changed the oil and i didnt see any metal shavings in it. i will try and get a sound clip up soon. i had some detonation issues a while back and have been running 93 octane tune since, and i havent had any more problems, if that will help any.

If you had detonation problemsyour engine is probably toast....

mine is not as loud as that but it increases with rpm like that

that kind of sounds like lifters ticking to me, but that is just me

well finally found what the noise was on my car i saw that my crank shaft pully was a lil loose causing it to wobble some. i tightened the center bolt and now the noise is gone.
