WTF 99 with a Romeo??? help
Well I went to get a new PCV hose and valve and the one that i got was wrong,
the hose was about half the size that I needed and the PCV valve was a push in. Even the Ford dealer that I got the next one from gave me the same thing.
So I am looking around and I only count 11 valve cover bolts...??? in 99 I understand that only the Windsor was put in the GT.
I think that I can see a date on the valve cover bar code 04/09/02 both covers have the same thing.. is this a date like it looks??
I bought this car 5 years ago and I guess that I am lucky that I have not needed any engine parts until now.
Does anyone else have a 99 with a Romeo? or know how i can tell if the block is a Windsor or Romeo while it is still in the car???
a few good pics of a 99-00 Windsor would be awesome..
thanks

Well if thats the date of manufacture that you found, then it sounds like somebody may have done a motor swap to a newer engine, because the 99-01.5 engines are Windsors like you are thinking. But an 02 engine would be a Romeo, and if your having trouble getting the Windsor parts to work, than I would think that there was deinitely a Romeo swap sometime in the past...

What 03greyGT says makes sense... and what you are reading does sound like a date. Maybe a warranty engine swap early in the car's life. If at a dealer, this should show up in the service record for the car... Nothing wrong with that, but it's just good to know if you are needing parts. My '01 has a Romeo.

I have a 99 GT and mine is a Windsor.
If its a Windsor motor it will have a big W on the front of the block.
I also believe it say Windsor on valve covers on label.
i agree with others R motors where not in 99 ,i say it was swap
BTW found this credit to 1999GT for thread Hope it helps
