Default Procharger selection

Hello

I am new to mustangs, I used to have one in highschool but my dad made me pay insurance on it but I hardly got to drive it. I had an 02 lancer es that was turbo charged with an evo 8 turbo. I was either keeping up with mustangs or beating them but the downside of that car was too many issues and alot of the mods had to be custom.

I just bought me an 01 cobra mustang and it should be here in the next few days. im looking to get about 400-500 hp out of this beast with a procharger. Any prochargers that yall know of that are reliable for around 2-4k?

Im looking to buy probably by the end of january when taxes come.

thank you for your time and I look forward to joining your forum

you can find used p1sc's in that rance, slap that on with supporting mods and you should be in the high 300-400rwhp range. If you want to ever see 500's you will need more than that including forged internals and upgraded fuel components

What is the max HP rating on the cobra for stock motor? I heard it was 450 but I'm not sure if that is with cams needed or what

That, or maybe a tiny bit more. To my knowledge all Cobras have the forged crank, but the weak point is the pistons and/or rods.

yeah cranks arent the worry, its the rods/pistons/rod bolts. You could always just change those components and have your crank balanced to the other internals then you can throw whatever you want at it...just food for thought

It will be hard to find one in that price range that can put out the amount of power without needing a dangerous, and inefficient amount of boost... I know for closer to $6k you can get an inter-cooled twin screw or a pro-charger that will put out over 500 rwhp with about 14 lbs of boost... You would also need a new maf, a larger throttle body, dyno tune, and maybe a little bit of engine work...
--Warning! The engine isn't made for that much horsepower! You will need to rebuild it to safely go over 450ish horsepower!-- I don't wan't you to blow an engine and waste all that money...
