Best Exhaust for 2002 mustang gt

I have Flowmaster Super 44's welded into my stock catback and the rear cats off. Have had people compliment it and a few people ask to me to rev it up or make some noise. Sounds good and has a nice low rumble to it, it does have kind of a "hollow" noise I guess you could describe it as but I love the way it sounds. And its moderately loud but not over the top and it lets you have a conversation inside without yelling. That will probably change when I switch to an offroad X pipe.
Don't let people steer you away from Flowmasters just because "everyone has them". I've always had quiet luxury cars (Benz/BMW) and when I switched to this I loved it. If you like the sound, get it. That's what I did.

I agree with Demonhead.
Simply removing the cats from your factory exhaust will improve the sound and help it breathe a little better (not to mention dropping a little weight). An O/R H pipe is relatively cheap and it will make the car sound better without being at all obnoxious. You could easily unbolt the mid-pipe and put it back to stock whenever you wanted.

Yeah, I'm looking for exhaust as well for my 01 gt and I was originally going for borla catback with bbk shorty headers and magnaflow catted x. I changed my idea to slp long tubes, slp shorty catted x and lm2 catback. I'm torn between the 2 setups now because I don't want it to be obnoxiously loud, but at the same time have it rumble like none else...

Stang, o/r h pipe gives you that deep muscle car sound even under acceration unlike the x pipe which gives more of a race car rasp noise. While idling you can really hear the cams chopping even of they are stock! Consider it. Cheap, easy and not obnoxious. Just don't mess with the rest of the exhaust when you get an o/r pipe, it'll start getting really loud.

Demonhead, I talked with some friends about it for a while. I'm probably going with Magnaflow catted x pipe. To be honest I like the raspiness. I've looked at several exhaust clips from a lot of people and it seems the most subtle exhaust note at idle, with a deep, raspy tone thats not too to loud is borla stinger with mag catted x and bbk shorties. I have a friend who even has an o/r x pipe with stingers and bbk shorties, and his is pretty loud, but its more clean than anything, surprisingly. He did tell me he got high flow cats to go with the o/r pipe, so I guess I'll take his word for it, but its very clean, and deep as well as a raspy race car growl upon acceleration. That's what I'm leaning toward now.
