2000 GT Instrument Cluster swap
I have a 2000 GT cluster and want to upgrade my 94 with it. I need the wiring diagrams for the both of them. I figure it should be pretty strait forward from there.

It won't be an easy swap as you will need to upgrade the PCM from EEC-IV to EEC-V to drive the speedometer, tachometer, coolant temp, MIL, and a few other warning lights.
Here is the 1994 cluster wiring diagram: http://www.paladinmicro.com/images/F...terDiag-01.png Note that only the MIL, the auto-tranny O/D lamps and the tach are controlled by the PCM--and all directly controlled at that. Here is the 2000 cluster wiring diagram. http://www.paladinmicro.com/images/F...terDiag-01.png On the 2000 the speedometer, tach, ECT, MIL, O/D indicator and other function are provided as digital data over the Multiplex Communication Network. In later models this became called thethe SCP (Standard Corporate Protocol) bus--and is in fact the OBD2 data bus. A microprocessor in the cluster reads the digital data and then drives the gauges, all of which are just identical servo motors; not "real" gauges at all. Here's a shot of the backside of an '01 cluster with the electronics removed. http://www.paladinmicro.com/images/2003HECBack01.jpg |
You said that so gentle; like you didn't know it was going to ruin his day, lol.

Not a bad thing at all just something else to make me find a 1995 Bronco or F-150 with a 302 to grab its wiring harnesses and PCM. They are EEC-V and OBD-II and that should do the trick.

shorting out
WHAT can cause a cluster to stop working after 10 or 15 miles ?? Loss of ground ? How do you track that down ?
Seems to just be the fuel, tack and speed guages shorting out. |

if you are swapping clusters, whether new or used, it will need to be programmed. Using a ford IDS or similar you will have to suck out info from old one, install new one and download info on to it. Its not plug and play |
