99 GT starting troubles??? PLEASE HELP
 

Hi everyone,
havent visited in a while... im having an intermittent starting problem with my stang. it sat for about 2 weeks with the battery disconnected (prior to that everything worked like a charm except the battery would drain if i didnt start it for more than 2 days) anyway i charged the battery and went to start my car and it would crank all day long... but no fuel pressure??? so i did the following....
1. checked ALL fuses - no blown fuses - wouldnt start
2. disconnected and jumpered around inertia switch - wouldnt start
3. checked voltage at inertia switch plug - 0 volts- wouldnt start
4. gave up for a few hours - fuel pressure - but then it dropped to 0 and car wouldnt start
5. checked PATS light timed out as expected (3 seconds) - wouldnt start
6. gave up some more... came back - fuel pressure and it started right up!?
7. gave it an hour or two... tried again - started right up???
8. figured it was a glitch from having the battery disconnected, left the charger on it overnight... went to bed.
9. woke up today... went to start the car - no fuel pressure - wouldnt start
10. left it alone for a few hours - fuel pressure and it started right up???
11. waited 4-5 hours - no fuel pressure - wouldnt start
12. waited 30 seconds and tried agian - fuel pressue and she started right up????? WTH i dont know where to go from here??? CCRM??? new fuel pump???? FPDM???? please help asdap!!!!!:icon_doh:

I would try running 12V to the FP directly and see if it stays running or if you hear it sputtering.
My Mustang act the same way awhile back and it was a failing FP.
replaced it with a Focus SVT FP and its been great sense replaced.


Also could be a CCRM acting up as well.
There is a way to test it on forum somewhere.

well today i went to start it and she fired right up???
thanks for the info repzard. i know where the fuel pump plug is (between the gas tank and rear bumper) which side goes to the pump male or female? does anyone have a pinout of the plug so i know what pin to use to power the pump? it is HARD AS HELL to troubleshoot an intermittent problem! :icon_doh: Anyone else have this problem??? Any help is welcome! This is my DD and its kinda hard to make it back and forth to work wondering if she will start when i need her to!? :icon_shrug:
