Hello, I have been looking online and can't find out what wire color will provide a 12V+ signal when I put my car into reverse.

I got a backup camera and need to get a 12V+ signal to my monitor so it will automatically switch to the backup camera when in reverse.

I have removed the drivers kick panel but don't know what wire to tap into. Please let me know what color it is or where the best place to find this information would be.

Here is the wiring diagram for the reverse lamps:



If you are looking for a connection "up-front" then the BK/PK wire at C201e at the GEM might be the place to tap:



However it is in the fenderwell and not all that easily accessed--if you do make sure you make a watertight connection.

Other possibilities would of course be the reverse lamps themselves, or the reverse switch at the transmission.

Thanks for all the information cliffyk! It's more than anything I was able to find online.

I was hoping that there would be a wire that I could use under the dash or near the shifter (automatic transmission).

I guess it might be easier to run a wire from the back reverse lights to the front dash instead of going through the firewall and into the GEM.

Update: I was able to find the Black & Pink wire in the passenger kick panel and tap into that to get the +12V when the car is in reverse.
