Hey guys I want to install a short shifter on my stang. I can't stand the long throw anymore. Sometimes its tricky to get in some gears and I was wondering if I put a short shifter in if it will make it harder or solve some of those problems (i.e. 3rd gear). How hard is the install if I do it myself and what brands/parts should I look for?

Yeah, if you want to power shift, definitely get the Tri-ax or the Pro 5.0, or maybe the B&M Pro Ripper. They're all about $180-$200, but well worth it. They have adjustable positive stops so you don't overshift and risk bending a shift fork. Take it from somebody who just dropped the hammer on his tranny with the stock shifter. My T45 is going to be spending a few days at the transmission shop.

Its definitely worth the investment. I've got a Tri-ax. HUGE difference in the shifts.

Its very simple to install, and will take an hour if you work slow.. Another good shifter in my opinion is the roush short throw. It too is spring loaded and you will not miss third.. Its the same as tri-ax basically.. It has the adjustable shift stops, as well as two positions for the handle, one extremely short throw, and the other is if you want more leverage..
