noob exhaust leak

Ok I've searched and searched not only this forum but google as well and I can't find the answer and i feel like a noob but there is an 1/8 gab between my stock header and my new mac o/r x pipe. Its on the driver side and just so you know the mac pipe came with a little like 2" pipe that flanges on one side nut it didn't seem to fit right, it was very loose. Maybe I had it in the wrong place please tell me where it goes and which way it goes as I am pretty sure this is the main reason for the leak.

Thanks in advance
Kris

That small pipe is to be inserted into the driver's side pipe to reduce its inner diameter. It is needed because the manifold is machined for a 2-1/4" pipe, and the 2-1/2" after market socket will not properly mate with the manifold.
