Default 96 Cobra dipstick not reading even after fresh oil change...

I purchased the car from a private seller so my first assumption was that he may have put the wrong dipstick back in. Just got back from Ford and we verified that the dipstick that's in there is the correct dipstick.

Even after 6 quarts, the dipstick will read dry. Could the tube been damaged during the LT install? I noticed that the tube isn't quite fully seated, but there are no leaks there. Also, I changed the oil about a month ago and my low oil light is coming on. There's no way my car is burning that much oil. I'm totally stumped.

Any advice/help would be appreciated!

Are you sure it's the stock oil pan?

Does the Low Oil light come on? I know that my 96 gt will take about 6-6.5 quarts before the oil light stays off all the time. The chances of the dipstick getting messed up on the header install is pretty big. If it is not pressed into the block all the way that could be your problem.
