Default Question about rims and tires??

I have a 1998 mustang gt. my demensions right now are stock 245-45-17 I was going to go with staggered 18" rims. 265-35-18 front and 285-35-18. Bu the problem is my car is not lowered so should I go for the 40 profile tires on the staggered setup or lower the car first. Anyone have any pics of a mustang with 18" rims with 35 profile tires not lowered???

my car is lowered 18-35-280/270 stagger set up, works perfect no rub, plenty of space etc

Eddy... FWIW, I happen to think that adding tire height in order to lessen the fender gap, is the wrong way to go (appears this is your goal). Reasons being, that you change clearance tolerances a bit differently, than lowering an equal amount, elevate your ride and then need to address speedo/ODO accuracy. These are not usually a big deal and may be OK with you, but can also change your effective final drive ratio gearing. Again, not a big deal, most of the time, but think it better to lower your car 1/2" rather than run a 1" larger diameter tire.

I can see why u say that. I've made up my mind I'm going with the staggered setup with the 35 profile tires and then lower the car after to get the precise stance I want.
