google wouldnt have taken an hour and a half to get your first response, just sayin. but either way, welcome to the forums, we will be more than happy to help with technical details and discussions. i may have come off a bit rude with the google comment, but that's very easy information to find there.
for instance, in less than two minutes, i found these two websites:
http://phystutor.tripod.com/stang/engines/50.html
http://www.qwksvt.com/LSpecs.html

the 5.4/4.6 are basically the same. a transmission will bolt to a 5.4 the same as a 4.6. You'll need a cowl hood. The 5.8 has a taller deck height than the 4.6.
You'd be better off buying a 5.4 block and forging the internals yourself. My '00 Lightning's stock bottom end let go after 60,000 miles and sent 3 rods through the block. (With pulley, tuned, intake, and exhaust).
I can't think of one person I know with a modded lightning that hasn't replaced the bottom end at least once.
