tire sizes??
ok i am going to buy some 03 chrome cobra rims for my 98GT. i was thinking can i put 265 in the front and 275 in the back of a 17x9 front and back or will a 275 not fit on a 17x9 rim. I really dont want to get staggered because im only 17 and dont want to buy tires more often than i need to

A 275 will fit on a 17x9 wheel. You say you don't want the staggered wheels because of having to buy tires more often. With the set up your talking about 265 front, 275 rear you wouldn't be able to rotate them any way.

Wow I look stupid haha I meant 275 front and back could the 275s fit in the front without trouble??

A 275 will typically rub up front on an SN95, but think a bit less likely on a New Edge.
This is really a bit large a tire for a 9" wheel, IMO, and better off with a 265< for better turn-in response and less sloppy in the corners.

Jazzer, I know you are very knowledgeable and are a trusted source for wheel/tire/brake/suspension info, but 275/40/17 tires are actually recommended for 9 inch wide rims according to tire rack. not only that, but they are also (almost exactly) the same height as the stock recommended tires, 245/45/17, thus will require no speedometer recalibration. as to fitting up front, my friend runs em up front on his 97 cobra, not sure about his rub issues, but he gets around town fine.

I didn't say they don't work, silly... Just said my opinion
They tend to rub on the SN95 chassis, but not usually very bad. My bigger issue is the "looser" cornering they provide, over a narrower tire. When pushed harder in a corner, they will roll-over up onto the sides more and one looses his/her grip.
If one is not into cornering and can address/live with a bit of rubbing, a 275 will work fine .
