The colder it is the harder it is to start. Seems like a fuel issue?

Wife's 1998 gt won't start when it's cold. Please help, here are the symptoms: first thing in the morning go out and get in it, turn it over and it usually starts for a second then dies right away( sometimes you can get it running if you hit the gas right at the right time when it's starting) usually it just dies though. Then it won't start. After about 8-9 tries it starts. Today was bad though, about 35 degrees out and it wouldn't start. Battery died. So I hooked it up to my truck and tried and tried. Finally got it to start. Even tried liquid fire in the intake. I think it's a fuel issue because it turns over fine just doesn't start. Maybe electrical?
Thank you in advance!

Next time you try to start it when it's cold try this. Put the key in the ignition turn the ignition to on without starting your car leave here for about 3 seconds theb back to the off position. do this about 5 times. Then try to start it. If it starts up good then it's a fuel problem if it isn't starting up fine it's probably spark plugs or something that is in the ignition. Be shure to let me know. What happens next time.
