Yeah, sure. By the digit on the door!! lol. It is a t45 for sure if the first digit is a 6. Now we just need to do more research and find out if we you can or cannot use the tuner or if you need the gear. Im pretty sure its the formaer in your case...more research!!

Looks like its not available according to this: http://www.fordracingparts.com/download/charts/129.pdf

Looks like the t-45 has an 8 tooth drive gear. But you shold be able to change the drive gear to a six tooth and get the 21 tooth driven gear and that SHOULD get you where you need to be. Or get the calibration tool. Someone else correct me if im wrong as I have no experience with the SN95's verse the New Edge. This is what my research has netted me thus far.

You can check late model restoration. They may have the gear tooth you're looking for. Or the speedcal can fix it.

or you guys can just stop with all the misinformation...

you need one of 2 things either a speedcal or new drive and driven gears...

ALL modular mustangs have either a T45 or a 3650 trans, the swap happened mid year in 01, therefore ALL non new-edge SN95's have a T45 trans...

the T5 was used in fox's and pushrod SN95's (94-95), the T45 has an integrated bellhousing that only matches up to the modular bolt pattern

internally the T5 and T45 are very similar with a few main differences...

the T5 uses a 28 spline output shaft while the T45 uses a 31 spline

what this means is that if you want to change the speedo gears you

A: need to pull the trans and remove the tailshaft housing

and

B: need to find either a Tremec 3550 (NOT 3650) or TKO 500/600 6 tooth drive gear which are not easy to find...

the ones they sell on 99.9% of sites are 28 spline and wont work on a T45

using a speedcal is about your best option IMHO

or you could just use a GPS like i do

Jerry you more than likely have a Borg-Warner (BW) made T45. I think Tremec already owned them at this point, but they were still stamping BW on the casing. This seems a likely scenario as I have a trans that has BW stamped on it. (Just a guess, sounds more logical that someone putting a T45 bell on a T5).

I believe that the T5 has a different bellhousing bolt pattern or something that renders it unable to be used on a 4.6L

Also, listen to this guy! He knows his stuff!

Like he said, if you have it use the GPS. I have a Magellan brand one and it is spot on with the roadside radar detectors while my speedo is off by 5.

@sn95_331_gt_yellow, can you confirm or deny what I have heard as to there being a bellhousing bolt pattern difference between the t5 and t45?

sn95_331_GT_ yellow thanks for the help I have the old drive shaft I am going to check that. The guy I got the car from said a T5 that is why I was not sure. I know the car should have a T45. But looking at the drive shaft it looks to be a T45 it has 31 spline. Well that helped out alot there. Now I just have to fix this speed o. If I use GPS I will just run the miles up like crazy because at 80 Mph. by GPS the car shows 90 Mph. So I know over time that will really run the miles up more then it already has LOL. I have 17 in wheels on the car and the gears 3.73. I want to try to get it back on or very close to it again. Thanks.
