Default Dust cover compatibility

So I overpaid for a crappy TR3650 for my 2004 GT from LKQ and have been driving it without a clutch fork dust cover for a couple months now. The clutch is so stiff it's giving me tendonitis in my knee. I found a 95 V6 mustang with a manual trans at the local junkyard today but was unable to get underneath it due to the car sitting in 2 feet of mud and my brand new Nike's. According to the fat guy behind the counter at the junk yard the dust cover is not compatable. Is he correct?
