Default 4.6L to 5.4L block question

Ok short and sweet, what from a 4.6L engine (heads of course) can be swapped onto a 5.4L block?

Was looking at prices for 5.4's in the mid $1500's with 150k+ and then saw blocks for $250 so it got me wondering.

I have PI heads from my 2002, etc.

thanks

There are forums/threads for this swap out there. I don't know all the details, but generally, yes the heads fit, but the PI intake requires adapters and/or you must buy a custom built intake manifold. Truck intake won't fit under the hood (and even if it did, you wouldn't want to use it).

I think the value of doing it depends on personal philosophies. The power gain is not substantial, and there's no high-end power.... lots of torque, though. You have to split your H-pipe and add a section to make it wider, too.

You can supposedly fab up a new 5.0 or Boss 302 intake manifold to bolt on, there's a topic on another forum about it.

This... its not a huge gain. If you want to spend some cash just strap a used blower to the 4.6 and you will see the gains.
