02 GT Loud Ticking

Default 02 GT Loud Ticking

Looking at another mustang, says it has a loud ticking noise, they say in their ad, mechanic said it was the lifters and they are adjustable, I know nothing about this motor, sorry if i'm

1st off 3 posts I would have to say welcome to the forums..... 2nd this happen to me about 6 mths ago. Loud ticking sounds. Thought (hoping) it was the lifters.. found out it was the engine. GL but I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole!

I wouldn't even get close enough to touch it with a 10 foot pole... and welcome to the forum!

Be patient when shopping for a new car. Wait till you find the one you want at the price you want to pay for it.

The stock lifters aren't adjustable and if they were, why don't they adjust them? Cause they are full of it, thats why. A "loud tick" is usually a nice way of say a rod knock.

Thanks, I have nothing but fords my entire life, I had a 99 F150, and 5 Ford Powerstrokes, still have 3 of them, but looking for a GT something I can get better fuel mileage with and its $.40 cheaper

They say it's a daily driver, so it might be a collapsed lifter or a timing chain knock, or just the phantom 4.6L tick that plagues them.

My 96 GT had one heck of a knock that I never could trace down. Been running like this since 2009 and it's still running great today.

My problem is, I want to get into an 05 body, but will work my way up, so I dont want something that everyone else is scared of...
