Power steering fluid change?

The fluid in my son's "new" 2001 GT looked like muddy water. Thanks to this thread, I just used the turkey baster method. I sucked out all the fluid from the reservoir probably half a dozen times, refilling with clean fluid, and turning the wheel lock to lock several times between refills. Now red as it should be. Used approx 2 quarts in the process.
