Default Bullitt Rims and Brakes.... FYI

Hello everyone,
I just wanted to let everyone know that the following brakes are the only brakes that will work with the 18"Bullitt style rims. IfI would have known this, I would not have bought mine. That's why I am posting this. And yes,I did some extensive research on this.

The brakes that will work:
[ul][*]All stock V6 and GT brakes[*]Cobra and Mach 1 brakes[*]Baer Track Kit and GT kit[*]Any PBR (the company that makes the Ford brakes, some of Roush's,and Baer brakes) 2 piston brakes.[/ul]
Brakes that will not work
[ul][*]Cobra Rs[*]Roush Alcons[*]Any Brembo brakes[*]Any Wilwood brakes[*]Any SSBC Force 10 brakes[*]Any brake with 4 or more pistons[*]Baer's big brake kit[/ul]
I got a lot of "Should work" from mustang sites/suppliers and had to call the manufacturers to check and see. I called all of these company's. I am so p***ed off right now because i really wanted to go with 14" brakes.

If you have Bullitts and any of the brakes that i found that "will not work," and have them installed on your mustang, let us know how you got them on there.

P.S. I was also told that shims would not help either due to the piston design.

Yup, 100% positive. I was just about to drop $1,600 on front brakes and have spent over two - three weeks doing the research. Check out some of my previous posting and you will see me asking questions about the brakes and 18 bullitts. I didn't get a definitive answer, so I set out to get the answer myself. Lastly, if I would have known about this problem, I would have never bought the rims. I think 14†brakes make a mustang really stand out.

This would be a good sticky (if theres not already one) if it had a lot of the common mustang wheels. Im curious about this with other ones. It would severly changed my mind on rims when that time comes. I agree about the 14" brakes. They look good behind a rim

14" is bigger than hell. Stock GT front brakes I believe are 10.75" in diameter, 13" is hell of an upgrade. Why on earth would you need 14" brakes?

after extensive track duty, the Baer Track plus kit works fine for me.

Stangatic,
So I just put the 18 x 9 bullits on the front and I have cobra brakes up front. It looks like there is less than 1/4 inch of clearance between the rim and the caliper. I am a bit worried about it, any thoughts or knowledge if this can be an issue down the road? Thanks

I realize this is an old thread.....
BUT:
18" Bullitt (and other 18" wheels) fit just fine over the Roush/Alcon 14" fronts. Infact, some 17" wheels fit them as well... even thought it's VERY close.
Cobra R/Brembo set ups also fit most 18" wheels.

What Bullitt wheel are we talking about??? And how are they not able to fit over common 4 piston / 14" set ups??

The OP is not good info....
