Default tranny/clutch noise... TOB?

The last week or so I have noticed a noise coming from the tranny area when I depress the clutch pedal. For lack of a better description, it sounds like an air leak, like a hissing noise, even though I know there is no air pressure involved in the tranny. I can't say as it is noticeable when the clutch pedal is released whether idling in neutral or moving in gear; only when the pedal is depressed.

Tr3650, 115K miles, fluid last changed about 5000 miles ago.

My guess is it the TB or pilot bearing.

Probably the TB,Its quite common on these cars.

Just about the only component down there that would create "a noise" as you depress the clutch is the throw-out-bearing--at 115k miles it would not be an unusual failure. Mine started squawking around 105k...

Not to hijack the thread.. But would a rebuild include fixing this?

Cliffy, is there any place around here that you would recommend, or conversely stay away from, for something like this?
If this car wasn't absolutely needed on a daily basis, I probably would attempt this repair. I have helped pull a tranny out of a jeep before, so I have an idea of what the job entails. As I don't have reliable help here and I can't really have the car out of commission that long, I don't think this is something I ought to try now.

Try calling Dan Moon at 904.765.6331, he is out on the Westside (Cisco Drive, off Pritchard Road) and has a very nice shop (lift and all). Does work by reputation and word of mouth , no signs or advertising--and is very capable and accommodating. Don installed my clutch a couple years back and he and I worked side-by-side. $300 which I felt was reasonable for 6 hours up on his lift and having his KSAs available.

Tell him I'm the guy that gave him the notebook with the shop manuals on it...

What is the expected life of the stock clutch?

I'm not having problems with it now, but if I am going to the trouble/expense of dropping the tranny and replacing the TOB, would I be better off replacing the clutch now too? Or would it be reasonable to think I can get another 50+K miles out of this clutch?
