Default Installing MGW Shifter - Is this plastic part messed up??

This plastic part from the bottom of the shifter seems pretty worn out - is this a problem? and if so, can I get another one??

thanks in advance!

shifter socket bushing?
give these guys a call:
http://www.promotionpowertrain.com

they'll be able to help you out.

from what i've found, this is not a ford part, but a tremec part, so in order to get it you need to go directly to tremec, as ford wont have it

Tremec calls it the shift lever socket bushing, I believe p/n 2606246. They are just about as rare as hen's teeth--try one of the TR-3650 rebuilders...

I'm just that good!! actually it was like that when I pulled it out, I've only had the car for a year but it has 140K miles on it. I have no idea what the normal wear should be on this part, but I used it until I can get another one ordered and I can't detect any problems so far. In fact, the shifter feels amazing, nothing like I expected.

It looks to me as though it had not been installed properly (not snapped on to the lever's ball end) at some time in the past...

was it snapped onto the stock shifter when you pulled it out?
