Default Intermittent vibration in 5th gear after MGW shifter install

I just installed an MGW shifter in my 2002 GT, and it is really blowing my mind how different it is from a stock shifter. I like it, but there is one problem - whenever I go to 5th gear I start to hear a vibration that is transmitted thru the shifter and is quite loud also. It is fairly constant but it buzzes for half a second or so then stop for the same amount, continuously. Other than that it seems great. Is this something that will go away as it breaks in?

Did you install it with that chewed up socket bushing? If so then I would replace that before searching for some other problem.

Did the bushing snap onto the ball on the shift lever?

I did use the old bushing until I can get a new one, but it did snap on with a good amount of finger pressure and seems to be on there very firmly.

I took my car to a transmission shop today to see what they thought about the problem with this 3650. The guy drove it for a while and he said he could feel the problem in fourth as well as 5th, so he thinks it's a bearing problem. They said I needed what they called a bearing and synchro job, which sounds like a complete rebuild to me. Cost will be in the $1350 range with parts and labor, assuming the gears are ok (if not they would recommend a reman tranny instead of rebuilding the old one). Plus, they recommended that I change the clutch and check the rear seal on the engine at the same time. Extra labor will be $100 on the clutch if I supply it, no extra charge on labor if they supply the clutch. Does this all make sense? This shop has a pretty good reputation as the best in town, but I thought I would get some additional input - thanks for any comments.
