Default shifter question

i have a steeda tri-ax in my 05, so i was able to use the 01 bullitt shift ****. now what i would like to know is this. on the shifter boots of the bullitt, and mach 1, i see there is a thing attached to the top of the boot, which holds it up. can this be removed from the boot? is this the same boot pretty much as was used in the GTs? i would like to use one on my 05, and it should fit since the 05 tri-ax has the same top threaded part as the 04. i dont like the boot hanging down look. here is a pic to see where i am talking about.

Default RE: shifter question

Yeah the boot is the same on the GT's. And no I think it is all one peice with no detachable parts. Also, I do not think it will fit the 05' correctly. A few months ago I had ordered an 05' shift **** that came with the boot attached. It is way different than our style (99-04), as it is very long and square, while the older gen is round. I ended up just reselling it on ebay. The boot would go over the tri-ax without a problem, but its not gonna mold to your shift console bezel correctly.

But, you can try looking at custom shift boots such as those made by Red Line. They have different styles that cup the shift ball much firmer, getting rid of the baggy look you currently have. (Link Below)
