I guess that info would help. Haha. The engine... As i sed its a 96 4.6L. I know it has the nonPI heads, due to the manufactured year. Im looking to build it overtime take my time and do it right. Id love for it to have at least a little more than the stock HP and am def on budget.

This all depends on your budget. If the shortblock is in good shape I would keep it.Then I would just do a PI swap. That would put you around 220 rwhp.If you want more hp I would get a good set of aftermaket cams and get the heads worked.BTW I believe the 96-98 2v's have higher compression than the 99+ 2v's but I'm not sure how much.

Well the buget is going to be spread out through approx a years time. So i have some room to work. Its my first build and im pretty excited about it. I have questions out the a**. One that immediatly comes to mind is. Culd i salvage PI heads? If so is it risky?

dont re-use your non pi manifold. Most of your gains will be from intake/cams anyway so if anything, you should be doing those. As others have said, if the motor is going to be out of the car may as well do PI heads/cams/intake and see how you like that power. If you're not happy with that add some boost

You would be fine with a stock pi manifold. If you dont mind spending 500-600 on aftermarket grind cams than that's the way to go. If you are budgeting stock pi's will yield better results
