The best big brake kit
I know Brembos are awesome but they cost just way too much money. Of the other big brake systems out there (Wilwood, Baer, Ford racing, etc.) which one is the best for a daily driver that sees some drag strip use? I'm going the slotted route because I've researched the cross drilled rotors and everything leads back to them being just a waste of money and even when I call the manufacturors that make them even THEY say the SAME THING! I have the stock 17in rims on. Anyones help would be greatly appreciated.

Upgrade Brakes ~ Speeding up slowing down
There is absolutely ZERO reason to purchase a BB kit, based on your original question. Follow my guide here and will stop 100% as well as any of the BB kits, just have a bit less tolerance for heat build-up and not much at that!

Look for a Bullitt, Mach1, Cobra brake set-up.
While I agree with JAZZER that much can be done to improve the stock brakes, I absolutely stand behind my Bullitt/Cobra brakes being better than the GT brakes on had on a 2000 Mustang GT.
If your car is just a DD that goes to the dragstrip once in a while, you could save yourself a lot of money and stick with you stockers and do the upgrades that JAZZER recommends. Unless your car traps 140+mph, there really is no need for bigger brakes. The run-off room at all the tracks I've been to are plenty long enough to easily slow your car from 110mph.
Apply that money to suspension mods that can be enjoyed everyday on the street.

If your Bullitt/Cobra brakes were 100% OEM, they were better than the GT's because of the brand/type of pads... not for any other reason
Seriously, you go my upgrades on GT brakes against an OEM Bullitt/Cobra and the GT will be stop 100% as well. Better yet, put both cars on a repeated hard-braking scenario and the GT will perform BETTER for MORE hard successive stops than the other car. Now, do my upgrades to the Bullitt/Cobra and the GT will STILL perform just as well, but will get heat-soaked a little bit sooner and that is it.
The caliper of the Bullitt/Cobra is probably a bit stronger and the rear disc is vented. A very small improvement in rear brakes, but not worth going to a Cobra rear-brake set-up, as you will never feel it in a seat-of-the-pants test.
