in that case then yea, it sounds like maybe there's some kind of offset somewhere, it might actually be from a bigger problem though. if the TOB is at some kind of angle instead of flush i would imagine that it would cause some vibration like that.

now, it could just be that the clutch hasnt worn in fully yet, how many miles do you have on it?

That could be the case. It is a new clutch, only week old, and it does seem to be getting better each day.

Scrapman, I finally have my car back on the road after re-installing the tranny. Turns out the reverse shift fork and shaft were bad causing it to jump out of reverse, along with a bad syncro. The guys at smartpartsatuo were real cool about the whole situation and took care of everything, now she shifts like butter. Anywho, I installed a new clutch fork and it has seemed to help with the clutch vibration somwhat. It didn't completely rid it of vibration but it has helped out quite a bit. Just thought I would let ya know that it did help!

Good luck!

Thanks for the follow up! The vibration has mostly gone away after the new clutch fully broke in. Why did the ford engineers design the fork with no spring? The TOB will almost always be in contact with the clutch fingers.

I had thought about putting a spring to force the fork to move back far enough that the TOB was off the clutch, but I was worried the extra pressure would strip out my stock plastic quadrant.

Good deal! Glad to hear that the vibration has gone. I don't have but maybe 500 miles on that new clutch in my car, so it still being in that "break in" period could possibly be where some of that remaining vibration is coming from.

As far as putting a spring in place to keep the TOB further away from the pressure plate, there are some threads on here that have discussed how to do so. I can't remember exactly where I seen it but if I run across it again I'll pm you.

Default just changed my clutch fork

I just finished changing out my flywheel, clutch, fork, tob, cable, quadrant, and added the firewall adjuster, it has had a slight vibration in the pedal with it released only, so I started searching for a answer when I came across this article, after reading the entire article a idea of why the tob is always in contact with the pp came to mind, I think its harder on the bearing to start and stop than to just keep turning, especially under load, was going to do the magnet idea until this thought though

Any for sure updates on this? Having same problem after clutch install. Got 150 miles so far. Everything is torqued and bolted up correctly I am sure of it. Fork looked ok and never vibrated before. Does it just need time to break in or do I need a clutch adjustment kit?
