Default New edge Intake

For you which is the best Aftermarket intake for the 4.6L 2001??? i have to change mine but don't know which brand to buy, i'm thinking to tune with a SCT tuner and K&N intake system sounds good to me, so i want to read all your opinions!

Thanks!

Hey bud,

There's countless opinions on this of course. I think most agree that any decent CAI will get you a few extra HPs, there's not necessarily a big difference between them. I used the C&L on my 04 GT because I liked the look of it, but some say that the metal tube is bad because it will transfer heat. I have a JLT now, that one tends to get good reviews.

The stock CAI is as good as any aftermarket intake, better than many, just not as pretty. I make 262/305 rwHP/torque with the stock intake and a Purolator paper filter--spend money if you like but don't expect any noteworthy power gain.

The tuner and a tune optimised for the highest octane fuel you care to buy will make some more ponies, open up the exhaust too--2-1/2" from the manifolds back...

These CAI threads are getting tiresome.

A CAI is not a recommended early mod for our cars. Spend that money on other mods first. If you have an auto trans car, you can benefit from a 93oct tune and better trans shifts so the tuner is good here. However, if you plan to do some mods, you should wait until you get a few mods and then have a custom tune made for your set-up.

GEARS is the best first mod for our cars. I would suggest saving up until you can put gears in it.
