I am thinking of removing the mufflers and run just new pipe from the cat back.
Has anyone done this? How do you like sound?
I don't have to worry about emission test.

Unbolt the back half of the exhaust from the h-pipe and see how you like it. I personally think you will like the sound of no cats with stock mufflers compared to the other way around.

I usually take the cheap way out with the last few mustangs I've had and that's what I did. It's like 20 bucks to cut the mufflers off and weld pipe in, but it came back to haunt me. I cut the mufflers off the 04' I have now then got the mod bug and put an offroad x pipe on with no mufflers and it is way too loud. So then I had to find mufflers to put back on. It sounds better than stock without the mufflers , but it sounds like beautiful music with an x pipe and flowmasters. LOL Just put thought into what you are going for , so you dont take 1 step foward 2 steps back and waste money.

Also something else to think about is an o/r h pipe is 129.99 on american muscle. With my 98 I scrapped out my 6 pre cats that came off of it for $180. So I actually made money on the deal!!
