Default cooler thermostat?

so anyone running a 165F thermostat? parts places here only go to 180. I am running a 195F right now.

Ive been having some radiator issues lately. Got hot on me the other day in traffic, checked the fluid lv and it was way low. I filled her up with 5050 and noticed a bad leak. bought some leak stop and that fixed it. not even a drop was coming out. But my fans dont kick on until its already to hot for my taste. I was wondering if I should go down to 180 or 165 if possible. I was going to just remove the whole thermostate since its hot for the season here now but I need it in place to seal up properly.

edit: new radiator is just $150, how easy is the install on this? seems like it just bolts on and off.

165* is too cool. 180* is what you want. Also, your fans aren't going to turn on any earlier with a new t-stat. You need to change the fan on/off settings in your tune.

Swapping radiators very simple.

Now that its not leaking you should drain the radiator, get that crap outta there, it will cause problems in other areas pretty soon, mainly the heater core.
2nd You dont want to go any lower than 190 for the thermostat unless your running a high octane engine that needs it to perform the way its supposed to. it willdamage the engine over time running to cold

Radiator is an easy swap out. Few hours if you really take your time. A 180 thermostat will work fine. A 190 you might have to hunt for. Motorcraft makes one. Nobody stocks the 190 around here. Most have the 195 & 180

Don't run it without a thermostat.
As mentioned, a cooler thermostat won't change the temp at which the fan turns on. You can use a tuner to change the temp at which the fan turns on. If the car is running hot, trying to cool it with all of the items you mentioned above are nothing more than bandaids for the root cause issue. Try to find the root cause and fix that.

Good luck!

You don't want to run anything lower then a 180*. Fix the radiator and you should be fine.
