Would 97 F-150 4.6 Heads work on a 4.6 Mustang

A guy on craigslist contacted me and said he had heads for sale, for a 4.6 and later i found out they are from a f-150, I want to know if they would work or not so I can keep looking or go ahead and buy them.

Yes. There are only two types of heads, PI and NPI. Doesn't matter what they come off from.

I don't know if you 'have' to, but I definitely would.

I have done the head gasket job both ways, by pulling and by leaving it in. I prefer to pull it, makes life a lot easier.
