NGK Tr6 Spark Plugs
I have a 2000 gt with bolt ons and looking to install some ngk tr6 spark plugs. I plan on drag racing with it this year and wanted to know if others have used the ngk tr6's? I did alittle research and found that some said to switch to the tr6 for racing? Need to know some opinions on what to gap to also. Thanks

I am running the NGK TR6 plugs (1 heat range cooler than stock), BUT this is because I run nitrous at the track. Maybe someone else can chime in, but I can't imagine that a basic bolt-on motor needs to run cooler plugs.
For whatever it is worth, I gap my plugs at .035. Factory gap is .054.

How does the car run while not on the nos? Most of the time the car is being ran with out the nos. I didnt know if you had any idle issues or wot issues with the colder plug off the bottle. I had read that with the tr6 plug you could reduce the chance for detonation on a n/a engine. Also if you run advance timing it was recommended to switch to 1 step colder plug.

Again, someone else can chime in on this, but I don't believe that you will need cooler plugs with just a few bolt-ons. My car runs fine on my NA tune which is run all the time except for the occasional pass at the track.

I run TR-6s in my car N/A. When I first had my car tuned, I had cams and full boltons, and the tuner recommended the TR-6s. Then after I did heads and larger cams, I took it to another tuner, and he also recommended the TR-6s (he didnt know that I was already running them). Both tuners said that even mild N/A motors like the 1 step colder plug, so thats what Ive been running...stock gap too...
