Electrical loss to dash
So, my new owner doesn't like me much right now. I have this random power loss in the dash. When it happens, the radio goes out (with a pop in the speakers), my speedo and tach drop to zero, my odometer reads dashes and I flash random warning lights. The theft light usually blinks. My driver's window gets sluggish and sometimes the ragtop does, too. I'm still pretty honest about my fuel and battery charge, and my engine has no problems turning. A couple of times, I wouldn't start again once I was shut off, but it a couple of minutes I was fine. Lots of spark, no fire, like I was flooded (but I have injectors...) I don't track mileage when I lose power, either.
Andy and his buddy, the Chief, looked at all the connections they could and searched for bad grounds and and the only thing they found was a connector lock on the ECM in the dash was open and the connector was loose.
When the guys at AutoZone hooked the reader up, I didn't identify any faults. As Andy was driving out, I lost power again and he pulled back into the parking lot. With the power loss, the reader couldn't talk to me.
What do you all think? Is my ECM burned out? Does the boss need to check my wiring some more?
