3rd brake light sticker

my 3rd brake light has some sun/weather damage...I've seen these "cobra" etc. stickers to put over the brake lights put will these stickers also cover the top or just the front (the side facing if you we're behind the car)...or should I just buy a new 3rd brake lights, how the hell do you install that?

i went to go buy one the other day and i found that the dealers are the only ones that can get it it seems. i checked auto zone and everything. its $85 complete with all wiring and directions
