I dont know much about paxton, but i believe that theyre similar to vortech's. V1 and V2 vortech's have small differences, V1's have straight cut gears which make them louder. V2's have helical (or something that sounds like that lol) cut gears which makes them quieter. V3's are like prochargers in that they are self contained. They run off their own oil, unlike V1 and V2's that require you to tap into your oil pan. And tbh i dont know much about prochargers either other than that. Someone else will definitely chime in with more information

pay close attention to post number 8,15,16 and so on in this thread http://www.moddedmustangs.com/forums...rocharger.html for cost and capability i would say Vortech if you could swing it and vortech and paxton go hand in hand bc paxton is owned by vortech http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...rchargers.html And the forum that I linked you too with Vortechs entry level blower V1 S trim there are ppl that were able to break 600rwhp on their V1 S trim entry level kits and that seems to be Alot harder to do with the entry level procharger p1sc even though it cost Alot more than vortechs entry level kit. I advise you to join different forums to gather all of the info you need from many sources. But the link I just gave you in that forum blowers and blower types get brought up like twice a week and the threads go deep on them.

I have a procharger p-1sc unit. The main reason I got it is because it's self contained so if there is a problem with the blower than there's a problem with JUST the blower. Being self contained solves a lot of issues. I can answer questions on a procharger but not the others. I'll tell you what I know. I was in your boat once. I know the excitement you feel but also the fear of getting the wrong thing. Feel free to ask. I don't bite.

As far as self containment http://www.moddedmustangs.com/forums...on-tapped.html and on the one hand your blower is using a few ounces of oil as its supply for the blower but on the tapped units its sucking from a 5-6qt of oil from the oil pan that is filtered and aslo goes through an oil cooler and gets fresh oil whenever an oil change is performed. But one unit by vortech that will possibly outperform the v1, and the v2 that is self contained is the v3 and it is still quite a bit cheaper and will outperform the two that i listed and the p1sc and still at a lower cost.

My p600b procharger taps the oil pan igot it used, its a 99 model year and its still running strong, ive seen p600s go for 200k miles without rebuilds.

So if one were to get a new or great condition supercharger, and if it was properly maintained, It would last just about the life of the actual engine?

anything will last as long as its maintained. and just like an engine can be rebuilt. Blowers are all mechanical moving parts i think vortech charges like $350 for basic rebuilds.

While it STILL is not installed yet, I went with a Procharger unit because it was cheap for the used kit (2k), and I bought it from a friend who put 2k on the complete set before it popped his engine.

I honestly would have bought it for that price no matter what brand it was
