4.6 blocks, how are you pulling these?
I'm in a situation where I have to tilt the motor to get my trans back in. How can i lift the motor UP, to give oil pan clearance, and alow it to tilt, without tearing the top of the motor down again? I have a cherry picker, and everything needed, however when i did it before, the engine was apart. Now thats its together, who's hooking to what. Thanks everyone.

I appreciate the posts, neither help tho. Block under the crank works great for a stock oil pan setup, but without lifting the engine, the motor won't tilt due to the 7qt oil pan hitting the k member. You actually have to cut and grind all the way to the weld to get it to fit. I have an engine leveler, that i hook up to the hoist, but what are you connecting that to? where are you lifting from with the motor in tact?

I got 2 chains coming down from the leveler and just throw a bolt into the front and rear of the motor and hook the chains to them I can try to take a pic later of how I do it if you need me to, just got off work heading home now

yeah, i need to know what bolts, or where you are putting them. I have the equipment, just nervous hooking it to anything but the block itself. The last time i had everything tore apart. Now that its together, i'm scratching my head, where can i put bolts to lift this thing without tearing something up. i appreciate it.

Its not too time consuming to pull the intake and alternator. I use the 2 alternator mounting holes and the two upper bellhousing holes. Just use short enough bolts so they dont stick out the back of the block and prevent the bellhousing from sitting flush. On the other hand last time I pulled my transmission off I didn't tilt the motor to remove or reinstall it. May have made things easier, but I got it in there without tilting anything.

My friend just put his new motor in with 7qt oil pan, he had to cut some of the k member to make it fit, which is what you will probably need to do to get it in
I hooked to the intake bolts, all 4 corners with 2 lengths of chain as I didn't have a leveler and it worked great

Your right. Thats what i had to do to get it in. Problem is...once its in. It wont move. Still against the k after cutting and grinding to the weld. So you lifted the entire engine by the intake? Anyone else rhink this is a risky thing to do? Not to mention i have a heavier cast iron 03 block. Chrisgt...thats pretty good. Im 1inch at most low...and just cant get up any further. Good point using bell housing bolts....have to mae sure i can remove them once the tvans and engine are together
