Custom mid pipe for an audiophile...
Okay guys, to start out I'll say I've had a couple exhaust system under my car and I can't settle on one. next weekend I'm having the headers replaced for the first time, went with pacesetters b/c of the price for long tubes... can't be beaten IMO but we'll see. I've had 3 mid pipes (Mac prochamber, ford x-pipe and stock H) and 5 axle back mufflers... Mac boomtubes, SLP loud mouth, stock, and currently i have lying around borla stingers and flowmaster outlaws (neither of which I've used hehe) and I may order the flow master classic American thunders depending on this mid pipe.
I should say first I'm hoping for creative input and not to have the idea put down, I'm pretty set in my decision and looking to finalize before I call a shop to have it made.
#1 O/R x-pipe with high flow cats put on and cutouts behind the cats
#2 O/R x-pipe with cutouts first then high flow cats (not sure how this would work, I don't think there's enough room in the pipe...)
#3 O/R h-pipe with high flow cats put on and cutouts behind cats
#4 O/R h-pipe with cutouts first then high flow cats
now if I went with 3 or 4 I may get the flowmaster AT classics b/c I think chambered mufflers sound better with h pipe... I do like the idea of putting the cats first to keep codes off the computer but I'm wondering if the sound difference from putting the cutouts first would be worth it.
input would be appreciated and if anything could guess a cost I'd appreciate that too, I'm guess around $900, figuring $200 for the pipe, $200 for the cats, $400for the cutouts and of course $100 for the work? call me optimistic i guess... also I wonder if I could reuse my old stock cats somehow...
EDIT: it's pretty late... can a mod move this to the 05-09 mustang thread? thanks
