Default 5.0 IN A 96 GT?

IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE WHO HAS SWAPED A 5.0 WITH A 4.6 IN A 96' TO 98'? AND IF SO MY BIG QUESTION IS ABOUT WIRING HARNESSES. I AM PRAYING THAT ALL I HAVE TO DO IS CHANGE THE PCM AND THE ENGINE HARNESS THAT PLUGS IN BEHIND THE RIGHT STRUT TOWER OUT (PLUS MAYBE SOME OTHER MINOR CHANGES). BUT IF ANYONE HAS DONE THIS SWAP PLEASE REPLY.

I know this doesn't answer your question. Have you thought bout getting a stroker kit? Some place have strokers that bump the displacement up to 5.0. I think they are all forged setups so you could throw a blower on there and bring on alot of boost.

IMO, i think it would be much easyer to sell the 96 and buy a 94-95, right? i dont think it would be worth all that work, wiring harness, exhaust, trany(this my not be a problem i dont know), PCM, and any other problems. i think you could sell it and get a 94-95 for less then you sold the 96 for.

I have been racing the 96' for quite sometime and have already pulled the 4.6 and 5 speed and gutted all other parts of the car that are not neccessary for street legality. it is barely street legal and i am getting it ready for a new k member, a arms, and coilover kit(its in the mail). my original plan was to stroke the 4.6, PI heads and all other goodys, but in resurching I have found that there are much more tuning oppertunities with the 5.0

well if you put the 5.0 in it, it may not be street legal due to the emissions laws (the part if your car is a 96 or newer it must pass the emissions test) and the 5.0 isnt obd compatible so youd fail that test. you would need a new transmission, and i remember that you might have to modify the exhaust. i almost did a 5.0 swap but the emissions deal stopped me. if you can get around the emissions test, or if you dont have one then you're lucky.
