Default Teksid Block, On3Performance, 12 P.S.I.

Ok guys i have a few questions about a Teksid "built" short block I might buy.

The guy that owns it, owns a small performance shop close to my house and is willing to sell it to me for $1500.00. He said a shop called Virgina Speed built it. Its built to hold up to 900 HP on 18 psi from a turbo. 01 Cobra Crank, Manley H beans, Diamond pistons, and a new oil pump I believe. His reasons for having it out the car and wanting to sell it add up to me, I am not worried about all that. He even said he would have his Machine Shop go through it check clearence and what not. My questions are, for starters,

how do I know for sure it is a Teksid Block?

Is $1500.00 a good price?

Lets say I do buy it, heres a list of things I would buy to complete it. Would everybody please let me know if I am on the right track with #1 what I need, #2 the prices I am going by (good-bad?), and #3: Anything I am leaving out.

1. Head Studs-ARP-$300 ish
2. Timing Chains-MMR-$580
3. Gasket kit-MMR-$400 (heads, intake, timing cover, ect.)
4. MMR oil pan-$250
5. Maybe MMR's oil pump-$200
6. Using my Heads and Cams, Stock off 04 Mach 1. Dropping straight in/or on top of

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I want to be able to make a SAFE SAFE SAFE 600 HP with my set up.

BTW its a 04 Mach 1 with an On3Performance kit, Tial Blow off valve and wastegate, and a 72mm Turbonetics Turbo. Thinking about 12 psi

THANKS THANKS THANKS AGAIN

I'm not experienced with the block, but as far as the list of stuff that you will need, it's right on, only thing you might want to add is motor mounts to that list

You wont make 600 on 12psi i dont think. And you can really make power assumptions without know that cc pistons those are so you have an idea about what CR the motor is goin to be.

Here is good info on the 4.6L:
http://www.therangerstation.com/Maga...0/Ford_4-6.htm
It tells you how to tell the various series of 4.6L from each other.
On the Teksid there is a certain pattern to the reliefs in the lifter valley.

+1 on the better oil pump, the OEM pump sometimes has issues.

Assuming you will have the heads done while everything is apart? That would be smart money.

The easiest way to identify a teksid is by the two mounts of knock sensors in the intake valley.

Thanks guys keep the input coming.

Can I get head work done and use the stock cams? And ABOUT how much should head work run $$$$ ?

I know it would probably be better to get cams but I want it to sound stock as possible, if possible.

I'm not a fan of Manley rods but i've seen em work.

I HIGHLY suggest that you research MMR oil pumps and I strongly recommend based upon my own experiences that you run very very far away from that oil pump and get an Ford racing pump.

Don't forget a windage tray for that much power.
