Default Chip vs hand held tuner.

What is the difference in the handheld SCT tuner vs the eliminator chip? the chip was cheaper then the SCT hand held device. do they both make the same gains?

a chip will plug into your computer itself with tunes already uploaded on it. thats about all you can do. a hand held tuner will plug into your obd2 port and will reflash your computer. they both do the same thing and i think you will be able to upload a dyno tune by your tuner onto a chip. a hand held tuner deffinitly. i would recommend the hand held tuner but i'm not the expert in this topic.
somebody correct me if i'm wrong

alright thanks that probably is the reason why the handheld device is about 80 to 100 dollars more, as long as they give the same gains i will be happy.

If you order off American muscle they should be more knowledgable. But I would still say go hand held cause I know you can have tuners mail you tunes you can upload onto your handheld on to the car for further mods down the road. I don't know about the chip. I'll find out for sure though during chow today

Ok just called my tuner n he said, chip is a pre can deal. So if you just have a few bolt on mods you will be good but if you go and get a Dyno tune the tuner most likely will NOT be able to work with you. So if you deside to do ring and pinion gears down the road you might be SOL with the chip. Hand held no issues. He also said he strongly recommends the handheld flash tuner. Preferably sct.

The handheld tuner allows you to change gear ratio settings, tire size settings and mine (DiabloSport Tuner) also allows you to adjust your speedometer after changing your gears. There are other diagnostics it can run but honestly I let my friend upload the tune and change my settings when I got mine because he does this stuff as a hobby and has been building engines and the like since back in Junior Highschool.
