Default 1998 to 1996 engine swap????

Im new to this forum and have a question. I have a 1996 mustang GT that needs a new engine, I found a 1998 Cobra motor and wondered what I needed to change over and how big of a headache its going to be. Thanks for the info in advance.

I don't have the engine yet I think I'm going to get it this weekend, the guy told me the motor has everything with it. He got the motor to put in an older Bronco and it wouldn't fit so he is selling it.

I think the motor and the PCM is all you need. Maybe not the computer in not 100 percent sure. But it's basically a direct swap. A buddy of mine did it. You may need to change the exhaust too.

the ecm would be nice but not nessessary. your factory ecm is able to run the engine but needs to be tuned soon. you will also need to stock cobra exhaust manifolds, they will bolt right to your mid pipe. you will also need aa 8 bolt flex plate orr fly wheel if your car didnt have one. i'll post up a thread that has step by step guide on how he did a mark viii engine in a 96-98. its the same as the 98 cobra engine except the cams and intake.
